I love mornings. They mean a fresh start, the quiet of a day full of potential. Sometimes Nico can convince me not to get out of bed, but when I’m feeling really ambitious, my favorite mornings start with a refreshing run around Green Lake or along the waterways of the Burke Gilman trail. IMG_2988This is Nico’s “I’m being too cute for you to get out of bed… right?” look.

When I lived back east, Fall was my favorite season because of the incredible colors. Now that I live in a city notorious for it's gray-ness, I've been finding those saturated colors elsewhere. In Wallingford, my little corner of Seattle, murals pepper the city, and you might catch the occasional turned leaf down at Gas Works and Green Lake! It’s been a while since I’ve blogged, mostly because I’ve been busy in school up in seattle. Today, however, I am on Catalina island with my family, and I thought this theme was perfect. This place is the vacation of my childhood and has endless views of gorgeous ocean, and stunning sunsets.

For anyone who knows me, they know that I always have my special friend by my side or in my thoughts: this is Nico, my two-year old Chihuahua mix, who makes me want to stay in bed all day, as much as he makes me get out of bed so he can get some fresh air (and a potty break). Sometimes, he even shares the limelight with my other favorite companion, and last night he even participated in pub trivia at Norm’s in Fremont, my new favorite dog-friendly establishment!IMG_0294 IMG_0322

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so it will come as no surprise that I often eat it for all three meals, as well as the ones in between. My go-to is easy and delicious sunny side up eggs, but my boyfriend has reignited my love for pancakes (for lunch) and waffles for dinner- preferably with a glass of red!
